It has been said that music sets the mind free and restores the soul. In his career as a Hip-Hop producer and DJ spanning over 10 years, Soul Chemist has exemplified this philosophy time and time again throughout his work.

Born and raised in Cairo, Illinois, (USA) Because of his hometown's unique proximity to the north and south, Soul Chemist was inspired by the heavy hitting drums and bass of the south and the pitched up soul samples characterized by the northeastern half of the country.

After building his musical foundation on FL Studio, in 2013, Soul Chemist bought his first Akai MPC 2000XL, turntable and a stack of vinyl records. This would be a defining moment in Soul Chemist's career, solidifying the Akai MPC as his trusted work station and expanding his music palette through vinyl collecting.

 

With a dedication to quality over quantity, Soul Chemist has produced for notable underground Hip-Hop names including his long time collaborator and friend Hype, Che Noir, elZhi & Rec Ali. Soul Chemist has participated in beat battles at SXSW, DJ'd for brands such as Adidas and has been played numerous times on Sirius XM's Shade 45 radio channel. Additionally, Soul Chemist is the DJ/Host for the live stream DJ show, Kickin' It Wit' the Soul Chemist on Audio Freebase Radio.
